Since the beginning of the industrial revolution man’s understanding of concrete has developed rapidly; beginning with engineer John Smeaton with his hydraulic lime in 1756, which was further developed and patented by Joseph Aspdin in 1824, leading to the product we now know as Portland Cement.

As a result of these developments and the global expansion of humankind, the use of concrete continues to grow. The recent construction revolution has created a demand for higher performing concretes.

As a result the utilization of admixtures has also increased to assist in the process of developing stronger and durable concrete mix designs.

This bring us to one of the world’s greatest discoveries from the early 1930’s namely Vapor Lock; a technology set to define the concrete industry.
